Your Support Has Made a Difference
Most St. Louisans are unaware of the enormity of the underprivileged children in their own backyard. Thousands of St. Louis children arrive daily to school lacking the basics: appropriate clothes, a warm coat or even shoes that fit properly. Thank you for joining Elise Tierney and Rosemary Hanley, co-founders of The Little Bit Foundation [TLBF], in recognizing the reality of this need.
"Because of all your support, last year TLBF helped over 2,700 children within 12 St. Louis schools. We were able to breakdown those [personal growth] barriers and create a more focused learning environment in the classroom. Our students are better prepared!” said Elise Tierney.
The Little Bit Foundation assists St. Louis schools with a 90 percent or above rate of students who receive subsidized meals, meaning they are at or below the poverty line. TLBF’s 100+ volunteers develop strong partnerships with sponsored schools to offer consistent, empowering hope to children in need. The volunteers work with the school’s administration and faculty to individually assess each child from head to toe. Does he/she need a warm coat, clothes, shoes, hygiene items or a backpack filled with school supplies? Sometimes, the student might just need a notebook or a pencil. But whatever the need may be, the child is 'looked in the eye' and personally assessed with great care in preserving the student’s self esteem and dignity.
Deirdre Jackson, Principal of Herzog Elementary School stated, “Our school culture has been greatly enhanced by [Little Bit’s] presence. We are fortunate to have a relationship with such caring, committed people.”
Once again, The Little Bit Foundation would like to thank you - the need has been recognized and with your ongoing support, TLBF has made a difference in the lives of thousands of St. Louis disadvantaged children.
