Little Bit is grateful for the support of CREW St. Louis!
On April 22nd, CREW members Laura Valenti and Meg Mannion visited Bryan Hill Elementary School in north St. Louis with The Little Bit Foundation (www.thelittlebitfoundation.org). Bryan Hill school liaisons determine which children are in need of clothing and/or supplies and a permanent team of Little Bit volunteers for Bryan Hill deliver and personally fit each child with the needed items every week. Little Bit supplies new school uniforms, coats, socks, underwear, shoes, backpacks, school supplies, and hygiene kits. They are also working with Food Outreach to package food items for the children to take home with them. There is a little boy in one of the photos who was reluctant to take off his two sizes too small shoes because he had no socks. You can see the smile on his face when he was fitted with his new socks and shoes.
If you are interested in donating or volunteering to visit one of the 13 schools that Little Bit supports, please contact Meg Mannion at mmannion@gundakercommercial.com. Little Bit is grateful for the support of CREW St. Louis! Download pdf >

Changing Lives One Dime at a Time
Do you think a dime doesn’t make a difference? Not so! The Little Bit Foundation was chosen to benefit from Whole Food’s “One Dime at a Time” program from January through March at their flagship Town and Country store.
Whole Foods Market gives 10 cents per bag to customers who use their own shopping bags for their purchased groceries. This program reduces our impact on the environment and also supports local non profit groups. Customers have the choice to accept their cash refund, or donate the cash back to the store’s chosen non profit organization.
The grand total of all those dimes was $2,623.70! The funds will support the “Little Bit Clothing Program” which provides clothes, shoes and uniforms to the 3000 children served by the Foundation. “Every Little Bit helps!

Big Fun Event, Big Success 2009
from Ladue News, photos by Margret Rambo
Little Bit Foundation raised $5,000 at its second annual fund-raiser, a Big Fun Event, at the Mandarin Lounge in the Central West End. The nonprofit organization presently serves 3,000 students in twelve St. Louis city schools, with 24 on the wait list. Assistance is given to schools with 90% or above rate of students who receive subsidized meals. "The money stays in St. Louis," says event co-chair Jamie Hagedorn. "If we see a child in need of a coat, a pair of shoes, hygiene products, or a backpack, we supply them," adds co-chair Megan Hudson. "We are not just a drop off, but an opportunity to use the donations to work one-on-one with each child." As it partners with St. Louis schools in support of disadvantaged children, the Foundation, in its mission, works to "break down barriers that inhibit personal growth and create a more focused learning environment." The Little Bit Foundation Honored for Making a Big Difference
in the Lives of St. Louis School Children
St. Louis, MO, March 25, 2009 – It started with a simple request. As volunteers coordinating coat drives for St. Patrick’s Center in 2001, Rosemary Hanley and Elise Tierney were contacted by a St. Louis Public School teacher about extra coats they might spare. There were many students in her school that did not have winter coats. Having a ready supply, Hanley and Tierney brought over 150 coats to the school, outfitting children who were in dire need of winter clothing. The women were humbled by how just doing a “little bit” could make a big difference. And the Little Bit Foundation was born. Read Article >
