“Burning for Learning”

Dear Little Bit Foundation,
As I reflect on the many partners that help make Hodgen Elementary School such a caring place for children, I am especially impressed with the work you have done for our school and wish to express my appreciation to Elise, Marge and all of the individuals who work so hard to help our Hodgen Dragons.
So many times, parents have come to my door frustrated or in need because they could not supply something basic for their child – perhaps a uniform, decent shoes, maybe a bookbag, etc. Before your organization joined hands with us, the best I could do was listen and try to scrounge/ask around for what the family needed. Now, I am able to listen and let parents know that we have a group of wonderful people who are interested and able to help us with these needs. And normally—poof—within a week, the family’s needs are met and the parent is smiling and thankful. More importantly, both the parent and child feel encouraged and hopeful because some one is looking out for them, and has given them a boost when they needed one. While from our end, the process seems like magic, I know it takes a great deal of hard work and coordination to make the meeting of these needs seem so effortless. Thank you so much for all you do for our families.
My teachers, also have benefited from your “magic” donations. From art supplies to classroom books to teacher materials—they always seem to come at the right time. Teachers, who so often are called to spend their own money during this time of shrinking budgets, now feel that they too have someone looking out for them, encouraging them and helping them provide an outstanding learning environment for our children. Thank you so much for all you do for my staff.
Finally, your giving is always personal and personalized. The minute you found out we were Hodgen Dragons, the dragons started coming my way. Each time you add a new dragon to my collection, the kids get excited because they know they can earn the honor of displaying one of my dragons if their class has god attendance, behavior, etc. This small deed, has helped motivate and encourage the children to do their very best. And that’s what I think The Little Bit Foundation is—the very best.< Back Next >
